Ocean Drifters is a fully immersive, 360º film about a secret world beneath the waves incorporating ultra high definition imagery and studio-quality sound, and narrated by Sir David Attenborough. Set to a newly commissioned musical score, Ocean Drifters explores the world of marine plankton and the influence it has on almost every aspect of our daily lives.
Ocean Drifters premiered at the 2011 Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition where, to display the film and house the related interactive exhibits, igloo Vision provided a 12.5 metre, 300 person capacity, geodesic dome equipped with a full 360º projection and sound system. Ocean Drifters played over 50 times during the 6 days of the exhibition and the igloo dome provided a fully immersive experience to more than 7000 visitors comprising school pupils, intrigued members of the public, and scientists.
In collaboration with Dr Richard Kirby, we now hope to use the Igloo platform to take this ground breaking piece of cinematography to countries around the world.
