Bringing Shared VR down under

You might know that we’ve been working in Australia for a little while now - since 2017, to be precise. We’ve already delivered spectacular…
We’ve spoken before about how, for many of our education clients, the question of content that works for an Igloo immersive installation is a big one. In the past, it’s been difficult to find pre-existing immersive content that fits the school-age curriculum.
So, we’re happy to share that we’ve now partnered with Seymour & Lerhn ensuring a well of high quality, immersive content built specifically for primary school education is available, on tap, to any of our education clients.
Seymour & Lerhn is an educational platform developed by Oasis Studio, with a mission to provide engaging, immersive and educational tech for children and adults alike. The Seymour & Lerhn platform offers a library of immersive virtual tours created in line with the UK National Curriculum. Pupils can sink into the WW1 trenches, shrink down to the size of a dust mite or get up close and personal with bacteria, travel through the ages and see the changes in a typical British home.
It’s a totally web-based platform - so, it works natively in our Igloo Web browser that takes any online content and puts it into an Igloo shared immersive space. And it’s super-simple to use - the team at Seymour & Lerhn have built an easy-to-use home page so that you can trigger all of the Igloo-ready experiences quickly and simply from the Igloo screen.
By accessing this content inside an Igloo, whole classes can get right inside the experience, without being huddled around desktop or tablet screens. They can easily discuss what they’re seeing with their peers, point out items of interest to each other, without anyone being cut off behind a headset.
To help you get the most out of the content, Seymour & Lerhn provides full lesson plans, worksheets, and other materials that tie in to the immersive lesson. The platform itself is device-agnostic - so, your pupils can access it across whiteboards, tablets, phones, with learners’ journeys continuing across all of these. Included with the platform is a lesson sharing tool that allows teachers to set up full lessons ahead of time which children can access from their own dashboards, across devices.
Plus, the Igloo software offers a whole range of other tools that you could weave into your lessons. Using Igloo Capture or Igloo Cast, you can bring in multiple streams of content from other devices - for example, you could easily overlay PowerPoint or Google Slides with questions for your class to consider.
